After completing a degree in design, I left New Zealand with a one way ticket to Los Angeles where I started working as a visual merchandiser for a large department store. At the same time I advertised my services as a personal shopper and stylist and with the help of some well connected friends, It wasn’t long before I was dressing and styling a number of high profile clientele. These same clients, thrilled with the look I was helping them create would invite me into their homes to do a wardrobe audit, to help them to coordinate their huge amounts of clothing and accessories, and it wasn’t long before we were discussing their interiors. That is how my life as an interior consultant began.
Understanding the fundamentals of design, I instinctively visualise the overall theme - not my theme but yours! My aim is to help clients translate their vision for their home into a design that reflects their personal tastes. This is the first step towards turning your house into your home. To ensure that your interior design reflects you, we will take a creative journey together. My job is to show you how to turn your ideas and sense of style into an interior that you love being in. Too often putting together an interior is stressful and burdensome and no fun and as a result people make bad decisions, creating interiors that don’t work on any level.
For me, good design is about beautiful interiors that are at the same time functional and able to meet the needs of yourself and others who will share the space with you – your friends and family. Most important, I provide an interior design service to suit all budgets – excellent design can be achieved no matter how small a budget we have to work with.

Recently we had the distinct pleasure of working with Janine La Hood in furnishing a residence for our clients, Mr and Mrs Grant Barnett of Auckland.
Janine made this experience, which was the culmination of months of planning and dedication, a great deal of fun and was an absolute credit.

I have sought Janine’s services on 3 separate occasions: the first was to prepare my home for sale. I did not have much time and our home, although it had great character, was tired. Janine came along and rejuvenated it and within a couple of days viewing I had two very good offers. I put this down entirely to Janine’s flair and presentation.
Next I asked Janine to redecorate my new house. She was very patient in identifying what we required, bringing paint and fabric samples and photos of furniture to see what we liked, after spending a great deal of time shopping around for the things that suited our taste and home.
And finally I asked her to look at my wardrobe and cull what should be kept and what should not. She spent an entire afternoon going through my wardrobe, identifying items that suited me and some that did not. She was able to provide solutions of what to wear and what to put with what item. After the session Janine identified items of clothing I should purchase that suited me. Her advice was invaluable, saving me a lot of time and money and giving me the kind of confidence in my appearance that I had previously lacked.
